FAQ'S

1. WHAT IS CLASSICAL PILATES?

Classical Pilates is a system of strength training exercises originally developed by Joseph Pilates over a span of 60 years. The method of exercises incorporates specialized spring-loaded equipment that offers resistance for muscular strengthening while balancing muscular force at the joint.  It challenges every muscle in your body with the goal of attaining uniform muscular development.

2. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Focus and concentration are key elements of a successful Pilates practice so it offers both physical and mental conditioning. Consistent practice of Classical Pilates results in toned muscles, improved alignment, greater flexibility, increased stamina and it helps to reduce or alleviate chronic pain.

3. I'VE NEVER DONE PILATES, WHERE DO I START?

First-timers have the option of purchasing our "Intro Package" and receiving 4 Private Sessions at a discounted rate OR try a "First Time Assessment" for a single private lesson.  Click on SIGN UP in the menu bar to purchase and schedule your first lesson.

4. HOW DO I SIGN-UP FOR CLASSES?

If you're new to Classical Pilates, you must complete an Intro Package before signing up to a class. Once you've completed the Introductory Package of 4 private lessons, have a better understanding of the Classical Pilates equipment/exercises, and have the go-ahead from one of our Instructors, you're ready to start taking group classes. We typically advise starting with the Fundamentals Class and graduating to an Intermediate Classical Class before progressing to an Advanced Classical Class or Power Group.

If you've been practicing Classical Pilates for some time but are new to our studio, you must complete a First-Time Assessment before joining classes. We require this so an Instructor can see how you move and evaluate your understanding of the Classical repertoire and equipment before suggesting which class would be suitable for you.

Once you know which group class you want to join, click on SIGN UP in the menu bar to choose from a list of class package options available to you. After you've signed up with Zen Planner and purchased a package, you can download the Zen Planner Member App to start scheduling yourself into classes.

5. HOW MANY TIMES PER WEEK SHOULD I DO PILATES?

If you can attend 1 lesson or class per week you're already ahead of the game! However, for the best results try 2-3 lessons per week. This allows you to experience different teachers and practice with different group members within your Pilates routine.

6. WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?

Breathable yet form-fitting workout wear due to the variety of movements, a water bottle (we have water for refills), and a great attitude.

7. HOW LONG ARE CLASSES?

55 minutes, with time left at the end for equipment cleaning.

8. HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE LESSONS IN A GROUP CLASS, PRIVATE, OR SEMI-PRIVATE PACKAGE?

If you purchase an Intro Package or a package of 5 or 10 lessons of any type, you have 4 months to complete the package. If you purchase a 20 pack of group classes, you will have 6 months to complete the package.

9. CAN I TRANSFER THE UNUSED PORTION OF A PACKAGE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING ELSE?

Packages are non-transferable so you will not be able to use a package toward another type of lesson or assign package lessons to another person.
